Dr Tracy Rydin-Orwin

Dr Tracy Rydin-Orwin (she/her) is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with a specialist interest in the perinatal field. She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Exeter in 2003. Since qualifying she has worked in the NHS, clinically leading a county wide perinatal infant mental health service. She is a trainer with the Family Relations Institute as well as Clinical Practice Director of the DClinPsy Programme at the University of Exeter. She has been involved in delivering training for a wide range of professionals, including midwifery, obstetricians, paediatricians, psychiatrists, doctors, social workers, health visitors and support workers, both locally and nationally. She has consulted to national charities, including Save the Children and the Parent Infant Foundation. 

Tracy is experienced and has expertise in perinatal issues, with a particular focus on the parent infant relationship. She has worked with clients across the lifespan that present with a variety of difficulties. She is interested in a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT and Acceptance Commitment Therapy ACT, Compassion Focussed Therapy CFT and Attachment theory. She has supervised doctoral theses in the area of perinatal and infant mental health.

Tracy is active in contributing to publications and research on perinatal and infant mental health and has published a number of papers in peer reviewed journals and has contributed a chapter on working with babies (2019). She presented her doctoral research thesis on a group intervention for women experiencing postnatal depression at conferences in Sydney Australia and Cape Town South Africa. She also lectures on the Doctorate programme in Clinical Psychology, IAPT 0-5s Parenting Postgraduate Diploma and CPD course for Perinatal Clinical Psychologists at the University of Exeter.
