Dr Sukhi Ruprai
Clinical Psychologist
Dr Sukhi Ruprai is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist with nearly 20 years of expertise in working with children, young people, and adults who struggle with complex, severe, and enduring mental health conditions. She completed her qualification at the University of East London, where she developed a critical approach to mental health diagnoses, emphasizing the importance of trauma-informed care. Sukhi adopts an integrative approach to therapy, incorporating creative methods and systemic thinking in her practice.
Currently, Sukhi serves in an NHS Personality Disorder & Trauma service, where she primarily utilizes Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as her main treatment approaches. She also works at The London Centre for Eating Disorders & Body Image and is trained in Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E) and the Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA). Additionally, Sukhi offers Systemic Therapy to families and is an accredited MBT therapist with a keen interest in attachment theory, which she often integrates into her therapeutic work.
Sukhi is particularly passionate about supporting communities that face challenges in accessing mental health services. She is acutely aware of the impact of stigma, discrimination, and marginalization, and she is cautious when discussing diagnoses, mindful of the power of language. Committed to delivering evidence-based treatment, Sukhi emphasizes collaborative work and encourages service involvement to help individuals lead meaningful lives while managing their mental health challenges.
