Christo Hudson
Peer Support Lead
Christo was initially selected to become a pilot in the Royal Air Force after developing a passion for flying at a young age. After his Initial Officer Training, he became a commercial airline pilot where he flew for a UK regional carrier for over 12 years. As his career developed, Christo became a trainer and black box Investigator, where his role became increasingly pastoral as he discovered the importance of understanding human behaviours. Pushing the boundaries of investigations to concentrate on the humans within the flight deck he worked to create change within the organisation.
Following a life-changing redundancy, and a period of his life now fondly known as “Baths, Beards and Booze!”, Christo trained as a peer support volunteer to help pilots who were struggling with their own mental health and wellbeing. He quickly realised that his experiences as a Black Box Analyst had given him a unique skillset that he could use to help tackle the stigma around mental health. He now delivers Mental Health and Suicide First Aid courses that he truly believes can help save lives.
Christo now uses his knowledge of human factors and skills as an expert facilitator to encourage people to become more confident with having “uncomfortable” conversations. He delivers keynote speeches, workshops and accredited training courses to shine a light on the subjects that people normally shy away from.
